The three PIC congregations in Illinois will have a joint Christmas party on Dec. 27, 2008, Saturday at Lone Tree Manor in Niles. Begininng at 5:30 PM, the party will have Christmas carols, dinner, special presentations, fun games for adults and children, Santa Claus' gift-giving to children, music and dance.

 

On Oct 26th, the PIC congregation in Bloomingdale celebrated the feast of Saint Luke. The Rt. Rev. Raul Tobias will be the presider and preacher at the Holy Eucharist. The clergy and members of the two parishes in Chicago, St. James’ and St. Augustine’s, joined the celebration. The service begins at 3:00 PM and then followed by dinner, music and dance in the parish hall.


Butch and Jennifer Zamora, with their family and friends, celebrated the new life for Andre Gabriel as he turned 4 years of age on June 15, 2008. This occassion was also a special time to salute Eurice as a new graduate from Middle School Class of 2008. The double celebrations was held at Towne Place West in Schaumburg, Illinois.


Congratulations to Jovie and RJ for their new baby. Rovic Joseph (8 lbs 6 oz., 21 inches) was born last April 24, 2008.


On March 21, St. Luke's, St. Augustine's and St. James' parishes held a joint service for Good Friday which included the Seven Last Words and Veneration of the Cross. The service started at 7PM and it was held at the Episcopal Church of Incarnation in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The three parishes also had a joint celebration of Easter Vigil at the same church on March 22 at 7PM.


The Rev. Dcn. Ben and Jane Dungo celebrated their fiftieth anniversary on March 16, 2008. It was a special occasion for the whole Dungo family, and a perfect opportunity for them to give thanks and praise to God for the gift of love they have for each other and for all the blessings of their life together. Fr. Alberto Liggayu presided at the renewal of their wedding vows and at the Holy Eucharist service held at St. Luke’s Church, Bloomingdale. After the service, the celebration continued at Meadow Lane Clubhouse in Schaumburg.


The family and friends of Jovie Calma Santos and RJ Santos hosted a baby shower for them at St. Luke’s Parish, Bloomingdale on February 24th.


On January 13th, St. Luke’s Parish held a memorial service for Eladio Angeles, Jr. who passed away in the Philippines last. Jan. 5. A musician, a jolly person and a faithful Christian, Eladio was a younger brother of Connie Calma who is a long time member of the parish. The family and friends of Calma and Angeles attended the service, with Fr. Alberto Liggayu as the presider and preacher. Fr. Jojo Pamatmat assisted in the service.

IFI Proclamation Anniversary

On August 3, 2008, the Iglesia Filipina Independiente (IFI) will celebrate the 106th anniversary of its birth and the gift of the Holy Spirit to carry out Christ's mission to the world. The IFI, a church of the poor and of the immigrants, has a rich history of dedicated people, with steadfast love for truth, good deeds, peace and justice. The Church has been constantly nourished and renewed by God's grace and mercy.
