Disciples in Action
Participate in the Worship Service
Members can be involved
in different ways in the Holy Eucharist service. They can serve the Lord and the worshipping community by participating as
acolytes, Scripture readers, intercessors, oblationers, ushers, choir members, and musicians. Members are encouraged to come
to church regularly on Sundays, if possible, to give honor, thanks, and praise to God Almighty.
Bring a Friend
Bring
a friend to church on Sundays. Let them know about our faith and worship and about the caring community we have.
Give a Ride
Carpooling and giving a ride to those who need transportation to attend the Sunday worship service is a good steward
of time and effort.
Volunteers at the Parish Hall
Fellowship time at the parish
hall after the Eucharist service is important to St. James’ community. Volunteers set up tables and chairs
and then later take in charge of clean up. Their gift of time and work can help in strengthening the friendships and
promoting fun time in the church.
Bring Food to Share
Potluck during fellowship
hour is an expression of Filipino hospitality to our visitors. At the table, friendships are nourished and conversations are
lively. This is also a time to share and enjoy delicious Filipino cuisines.
Support our Kababayan
Join and help the KABALIKAT Caregivers Support Group which is in partnership with the Fellowship for Filipino Migrants
in Chicago. For more information, please see Narissa or Julie.
Donate
to the Building Fund
Our members have a common vision for St. James to have its
own church building someday. With God’s grace and with the valuable contributions of the members, friends, and supporters
of the parish, our hopes can happen
Donate School Supplies
The KABALIKAT group
is collecting school supplies, educational toys, used clothing for children, and monetary donations for poor students
in elementary grades in the Philippines. All donations will be forwarded to VIMROD (Visayas Mindanao Regional Office for Development)
who will take care of its distribution to the needy children. For more information, please contact Julie or Nerissa at
St. James’ Parish.
