Emergency Human Rights Summit
On June 6, 2009, a gathering of representatives of human rights organizations, advocate groups, various churches, and concerned individuals will be held in Washington, DC. This gathering, called Emergency Human Rights Summit on the Philippines, seeks to build upon the strong but relatively dispersed response of US-based communities of faith, human rights and labor advocates, and members of the Filipino community to the human rights crisis in the Philippines. It also aims to engage these groups in conversations and in sharing information about their work and analysis on human rights in the Philippines. Bishop Valentin Lorejo of St. James' Parish, Philippine Independent Church, Chicago, will be attending this summit.
