A new Pilipino-English
P.I.C. Mass, held at St. Michael’s Church at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, attracted a congregation of 58 people. It
was followed by refreshments in the Millennium Hall.
The officiating priests,
Fr. Louie Engnan and Fr. Paul Illical, conducted the service in both Tagalog and English. Ms. Chris Engnan played the organ,
and others assisted as readers and in other ministries.
The Parish Council thanks
everyone who supported and attended, and noted that, seeing this service was held on the Victoria Day long weekend, we may
assume that larger congregations are easily possible.
The service started with
hymn singing, followed by the Holy Eucharist and fellowship.
It is hoped that eventually
this Mass will be held at a fixed time on every third Saturday of the month.
It was pleasing to see the number of children in the congregation, and a Church School along the lines of the Sunday
School is likely to be formed.
There is interest in forming
an adult choir (18 years and above), and all singers are encouraged to step forward. Also, more people are needed as readers,
communion assistants, and in other ministries.
Anyone interested in any
of these ministries, please contact Fr. Louie at 778-394-6835
or picsurrey@yahoo.ca
I call upon every family to respond
to this new ministry of our parish. Tell your friends and neighbours. Make this an active service and a lively gathering.
Fr. Louie Engnan
