Lay Ministry

The Laity
undertakes a valuable role in the life of the Church. With their shared vision and commitment, they participate in Christ’s ministry in and through the Church. They are actively involved in the Church as Parish Council members, Committee members, delegates to the Diocesan Convention and General Assembly, Scripture readers, intercessors, acolytes, altar guilds, ushers, teachers, preachers, eucharistic ministers, choir members, and musicians. Their gift of time, talents and treasures bring joy, energy, purpose and life to the Church. They also serve as voices of the Church in the wider community, striving for peace, liberty, and justice among all people.

“There are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.”
1 Corinthians 12:4-6

The Parish Council

The Parish Council is the governing body of the parish. It assists the parish rector in making and implementing plans, carrying out projects, and conducting other activities for the welfare of the parish, both temporal and spiritual. The Parish Council is comprised of nine laity (three men, three women, and three youths) and the clerical staff. The parish rector is the ex-officio presiding officer of the Council.
