IFI Task Force on Emergency ReliefIn response to the appeal of the Obispo Maximo of the
Iglesia Filipina Independiente, PIC churches in diaspora have sent financial assistance and relief goods to the Philippines
to support the work of the IFI in providing the immediate needs of the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Peping, and for
long term rehabilitations in affected areas.
With
faith, hope and love, PIC members around the world have expressed their concern and support, and have been
constantly praying for all the victims of calamities and natural disasters in the Philippines and in other parts of the
world and for those who provide them with life-saving assistance.

Emergency Human Rights SummitOn June 6, 2009, a gathering of representatives of human rights organizations,
advocate groups, various churches, and concerned individuals was held in Washington, DC. This gathering, called Emergency
Human Rights Summit on the Philippines, was organized to build upon the strong but relatively dispersed response of US-based
communities of faith, human rights and labor advocates, and members of the Filipino community to the human rights crisis in
the Philippines. It provided these various groups the opportunity to have conversations and to share about their work
and analysis on human rights in the Philippines. Bishop Valentin Lorejo of St. James' Parish, Philippine Independent Church,

News and EventsSt. Augustine’s Fiesta and Parish Anniversary On Augustine
29, 2010, the Parish of St. Augustine of Hippo will celebrate the feast of their patron saint and the 16th foundation anniversary
of the parish. Other members and clergy from other PIC congregations in Illinois will be participating
in this celebration.
St. James’ Fiesta On July 25, 2010, St. James’s Church will have their annual fiesta celebration
with members and clergy from other PIC congregations in Illinois participating.
New Mission Church On July 4, 2010, the Good Shepherd Congregation will conduct their first Holy Eucharist
service at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lincolnwood, Illinois. The service will begin
at 5 pm and there will be a festive dinner in the social hall afterwards. This fourth congregation in Illinois will be ministered
by Bishop Val Lorejo.
Flores de Mayo and Santa Cruzan On May 8, 2010, the Parish of the Immaculate Concepcion will have their annual celebration of Flores de Mayo and Santa
Cruzan. It will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Van Nuys. For more details, please contact Fr. Gerry Engnan

Diocesan Clericus On April 23-25, 2010, a group of clergy in the Diocese of USA and Canada gathered for meetings,
workshops, prayers, and fellowship in Elk Grove, Illinois. The clericus ended with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at
the Church of the Incarnation in Bloomingdale, followed by a festive meal and fellowship in the parish hall. For more information

Council Meeting Members of the Diocesan Council met
on April 25, Sunday, at the rectory of the Church of the Incarnation in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
Salubong The
Parish of the Immaculate Concepcion in California held their annual celebration of “Salubong” (Easter Sunrise
Service) on April 3, 2010 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Van Nuys. Breakfast was served after the Mass and children
enjoyed collecting Easter eggs. Please visit the Posting Board for more details.
Easter Vigil Service On April 3, 2010, Bishop Val Lorejo presided at the celebration of Easter Vigil service at the Church of the Incarnation
in Bloomingdale The celebration began with the Lighting of the Paschal Candle. There was a renewal of Baptismal vows and blessings
of water and oil during the service.
Good Friday Service On April 2, 2010,
the three PIC congregations in Illinois will have a joint celebration of Good Friday service at the Church of the Incarnation
in Bloomingdale. The celebration begins with the Liturgy of the Word, with reflections on the Seven Last Words, and then followed
by veneration of the cross. There will be Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. Prior to the service, there will be Stations
of the Cross at 5 pm.
Ash Wednesday On
the first day of the Lenten season this year, St. Luke’s PIC in Bloomingdale held the Ash Wednesday service last February
17, 2010. Fr. Alberto Liggayu presided at the service. There was imposition of blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshippers
as a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality.
St. James Parish’s
new location On February 21, 2010, St. James Parish started worshipping at a
new location: Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Skokie. The schedule of their Sunday Eucharist service remains the same at
5:30 pm.
The Feast of Holy Child Jesus The
Parish of the Immaculate Concepcion in Van Nuys will celebrate the feast of the Holy Child Jesus on January 16, 2010, Saturday.
Jaden Andrew Tiu will be the Hermano Mayor. The celebration will start at 4:30 pm with the Holy Eucharist, followed by dinner

Sinulog Festival St.
James’ Parish in Chicago will have their third annual celebration of the feast of Sto. Niño on January 16, 2010,
Saturday. The celebration will begin at 4:00 pm with the Holy Eucharist, followed by festive dinner and fellowship at the
parish hall.
